How does it work?
NGWave's Crash Recovery is fully automatic. NGWave knows at startup if the previous session was improperly closed, and if so, prompts you with your options.The recovered session retains everything that you had before the program was terminated. This includes:
- Full Undo and Redo History
- All Copy Buffers
- Saved Views in each Document

Obviously NGWave may not be able to recover a session that was lost due to a hardware malfunction, or data corruption. Additionally, if an edit was in progress at the time of the crash, that last edit will not be available (it will recover everything up to just prior to initiating that edit).Under an NTFS filesystem, if NGWave crashes while you are recording, NGWave will recover that last take that was in progress, up to the last half second of audio. NTFS is the default filesystem in Windows 2000 or XP. With FAT32 (Windows 98 and ME, and some 2000/XP systems), however, the data isn't committed to disk until the current recording is stopped. This is a limitation of non-journaled filesystems.

Low-Cost Solution
Take a look at the very expensive editing packages that are out there. Notice that the ones that are considered to be the de-facto standard, and cost upwards of $600, do not offer crash recovery (or real-time preview). You can easily spend $600 on an audio editing package, only to lose your hours of work thanks to a $90 OS crashing...Disclaimer
