Extras
For fun, we have made available our own media search utility. This utility comes with no support at all. It was written for my own personal use, but since it is extremely helpful when hosting a karaoke show, we figured we would make it available to those who wish to try it out.It comes in most handy when hosting a Karaoke show. A customer can request a song by name, artist, etc and you simply type a few letters in; it immediately begins showing results. You can then drag the result directly into VDJ.
There is NO installer for this - simply unzip it into a directory somewhere and run ngSearch.exe.
The ngSearch tool requires that Media Player 10 be installed on your system, and only runs under Windows XP. It also requires that the VB6 runtimes are installed (if you have VDJ or NGWave installed, you have these).
The tool is pretty self-explanatory, but here are some notes:
- It recognizes .kz files as Karaoke files
- It has a preview feature that uses your default sound card
- You cannot preview Karaoke files, only MP3
- Karaoke search results are shown in Yellow for quick reference
- You need to reindex any time you rearrange your files or add new ones
- The search is a simple case-insensitive exact match anywhere in the filename
- It does NOT index meta-data (such as ID3 tags, etc); only filenames and paths
- The lower section is simply a "holding area" to drag files to that you might use later
In the future, we may release a full version of ngSearch, and it will likely come bundled with VDJ by version 5.0; at that time, support will be offered.
